Grenada’s Hannah Briscoe recently won big on one of the state’s biggest stages as she finishes high school on a big note.
Briscoe had a top five finish in the Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen in Vicksburg on April 25.
A senior at Grenada High School, Briscoe called the experience and overwhelming one.
“It all happened so fast,” she said. “I was so happy to finish on a high note, I really enjoyed my time there.”
Briscoe, who is the reigning Miss Delta’s Outstanding Teen, finished as fourth alternate in the Miss Teen Mississippi pageant.
Thirty Mississippi girls competed for Miss Mississippi Outstanding Teen which is part of the Miss America system. Three of them are from Grenada County - Kayla Braswell is Miss Riverbend’s Outstanding Teen, Kate Blankenship is Miss Rankin County’s Outstanding Teen and Briscoe.
The winner of the competition will be the Mississippi representative for Miss America’s Outstanding Teen pageant held in July in Orlando.
“The interviews were so hard this year, but I managed to get through them,” Briscoe said. “I thought I did very well with my talent and vocal performance.”
Her mother, Pam Briscoe, said as a parent she was elated to see her child excel in the pageant.
“It’s so wonderful,” Pam Briscoe said. “All of our girls did an awesome job and it’s all about building the girls up. They all had fun.”
According to Pam Briscoe, Hannah has volunteered throughout the community and even during the pandemic she managed to work with students. She’s a member of Visions Show Choir and used the Miss Outstanding Teen pageant to showcase her talent.
“She’s always had a love for singing,” Pam Briscoe said. “She first started out with Pizazz, then onto middle school and then with Visions. Leading up to the pageant, she had a lot of preparation and confidence.”
Hannah said she thanks the community for the outpouring of support during her journey this year.
“It’s a great feeling to have he community behind you, and I really thank everyone for their support,” she said. “I would also like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This opportunity to go and do for Him was one of the most humbling experiences a girl could ever pray for.”
Briscoe is scheduled to graduate from GHS on May 21 and has already received a scholarship to attend Holmes Community College in the fall.
Briscoe is the daughter of Jeff and Pam Briscoe of Grenada and the granddaughter of Bobby Brown, Roy and Linda Briscoe of Grenada.
