The Grenada Police Department is investigating the shooting death of a Grenada man at a local motel last week.
According to Grenada Police Chief George Douglas, a man that he identified as Branden James, 33, of Grenada was fatally shot at the small motel on Frontage Road last Tuesday.
According to reports, officers responded to the Budget Inn at around 3:30 p.m. According to Douglas, the case remains under investigation, but revealed that James was shot and killed following an altercation.
Marvin Rosebud, 30, of Phillip was arrested later that afternoon and charged with James’ murder, according to Douglas.
Rosebud is being held at the Grenada County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
“We’re still very much investigating this and are continuing to make progress,” Douglas said.
This is the fourth shooting death that the Grenada Police Department has investigated this year. In January, police arrested three people in connection with a shooting on the 200 block of Spain Drive. A woman identified as Beverly Black died from injuries after being shot.
In January, Markeysion Hughes died of gunshot injuries he received after being shot while in a car in the parking lot at a corner store on Highway 8 and 51. A man was arrested in connection two months later.
In March, Joseph Paige was found shot dead in an SUV at the Air Industrial Park and Riverdale roads intersection. No arrest has been made.
