Family received friends from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2025, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for beloved wife, mother and grandmother Betty Ann Abel, 87, who died on Wednesday, Sept. 10, peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones. A graveside service immediately followed in Duck Hill Cemetery.
Betty was born on Sept. 14, 1937, in Duck Hill, the daughter of the late Grady C. and the late Bobbie Mitchell Haynes. She was a dedicated and loving military wife to Charlie Frank Abel, going with him to wherever he was stationed. She was a member of Duck Hill Baptist Church. She will be remembered as a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Charlie Frank Abel; sisters, Sara Laster and Patsy Wilson, and one brother, Larry Haynes, preceded Betty in death.
Betty was a homemaker and an amazing mother to five children, which include, Annette Kilburn (Mark), Charlie Abel III, Jeff Abel (Melissa), Scott Abel (Cindy) and Grady Abel (April). She was loved by her grandchildren, Kyle Abel, Jenni Kilburn Franks (TJ), Dylan Abel, Noah Abel, Mattie Abel, Luke Abel, Conner Abel, Colton Abel, Tristan Abel and Tyler Abel. Betty Ann is also survived by two sisters, Glenda Sanford and Sonja Haynes and three brothers, Joe Haynes, Jimmy Haynes and Terry Haynes.
Kyle Kilburn, Dylan Abel, Luke Abel, Tristan Abel, Tyler Abel and Noah Abel honored Betty by serving as pallbearers.
