Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, in the Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel in Grenada for Barbara Kendall, 83, of Grenada, who died on Thursday, Oct. 26, in Grenada. Burial followed in the Howell-Taylor Cemetery north of Grenada. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service time on Sunday, Oct. 29, at the funeral home.
Barbara was born on March 30, 1940, in Grenada County, the daughter of the late David Spencer Taylor Sr. and the late Martha Erma Bonner Taylor. She was employed by Heatcraft until her retirement. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, one son and daughter-in-law, Samuel Rushing Taylor and Kimberly Taylor; three sisters, Martha Elizabeth Taylor Tedford, Betty Geneva Taylor Jackson and Annice Beverly Taylor Burnett, and five brothers, LTC David Spender Taylor Jr., Robert Chris Taylor, John Julius Taylor, James Louis Taylor and Eugene Coats Taylor, preceded Barbara in death.
Survivors include, one son, Mark Porter of Grenada; one sister, Emily Yvonne Taylor Kelly of Grenada; two granddaughters, Amber Taylor of Grenada and Crystal Shaw and her husband, Christopher, of Coffeeville; three great grandchildren, Isabella Beckwith, Camran Beckwith and Rustin Shaw, and a host of nephews and nieces.
