Two Grenada mothers were killed early Saturday morning in an automobile accident on their way to a softball tournament in New Albany.
According to the Mississippi Highway Patrol, Misty M. Montgomery, 44, and her passenger, Jennifer Campbell, 32, both sustained fatal injuries after the 2013 Ford Expedition they were traveling in collided with a 2015 Dodge Ram at approximately 8:43 a.m. The women, along with two minors, were traveling east on Hwy. 30 in Lafayette County when the two vehicles collided. The Ram was being driven by a minor from Myrtle.
Montgomery and Campbell were pronounced dead at the scene.
The two minors from Grenada sustained serious injuries in the crash and were transported to a local hospital. The minor in the Ram sustained moderate injuries in the crash and was also transported to a local hospital.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is still investigating this crash.
Services for Montgomery and Campbell are pending.
