Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, 2025, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for William “Buddy” Crawford Herring, 78, of West Plains, Mo., who went peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father on Monday, Oct. 27, surrounded by his beloved family. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday, Nov. 1, at McKibben and Guinn.
Buddy was born on March 3, 1947, the son of the late James V. Herring and the late Monette Sartin Herring. William Herring proudly served in the United States Navy, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and retired in October 1967, last stationed on the USS Jenkins (DD-447).
In addition to his parents, one brother, Jimmy Herring, and other family and many of his friends preceded Buddy in death.
Survivors include, his loving wife, Jocelyn Herring of West Plains, Mo.; his son, Mark Herring (Kayla) and his grandchildren, who were his pride and joy, Kaleb Herring and Olivia Herring-Curl, all of West Plains; three sisters, Janice Odom (Johnny) of Brandon; Cheryl Ashmore of Hernando; Carol Cheek of Carrollton, and one brother, Frank Herring (Mona) of Webb.
Buddy also leaves behind his nieces, Sandra Hale, Annette Odom Shute, Scarlett Miller, April Davidson and Danielle Long as well as his nephew, Frank Herring. Among those closest to him were his good friends, Carl Mixon (Pat), Joe McDaniel (JoAnn) and Ray Stark (Fumi) as well as a cousin, special to him, Phil Maxey (Patsy).
Buddy will be remembered for his deep love of family, strong faith and his kindness. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched. The family would like to thank everyone for their continued prayers and support; each prayer is greatly appreciated.
