Following a 10-0, five-inning loss to Marshall Academy in Holly Springs Tuesday night, Kirk Academy hopes to bounce back at home tonight with a win to send the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools Class AAAA North State Championship Series to a deciding game this weekend. First pitch is at 6 p.m. at Raider Field in Grenada.
The Grenada Star will be live streaming the game on Facebook and its website www.grenadastar.com
The Raiders (22-13) were no-hit by Patriot pitcher Matt Bourdon, who pitched a complete game, striking out nine and allowing only four baserunners - three walks and one hit by pitch.
Sophomore infielder Carter Hathcock walked twice and junior infielder Hudson Mattox, who started on the mound for Kirk Academy, walked once. Senior first baseman Ethan Presley was hit by a pitch.
Mattox went four innings, tossing 83 pitches. He allowed six hits, one earned run, struck out two batters and rendered two walks.
The Raiders committed six errors in Game 1.
If Kirk pulls out a victory tonight forcing Game 3, it will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday back in Holly Springs.
