The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Vicksburg District recently announce that Grenada Lake is preparing to host its 2024 Veterans Deer Hunt. The hunt will be held below the Grenada Lake Dam Nov. 8-10. The primary purpose of this hunt is to give back to our Veterans who have sacrificed much to protect the freedoms of our country. The hunt also helps to regulate the deer herd which in turn helps to prevent habitat degradation in overpopulated areas.
Registration for the hunt begins on Sept. 24, and all applications must be received by 3 p.m. on Oct. 3. All hunters drawn for the hunt will be contacted by email or phone. Veterans may register for by downloading the application from the Grenada Lake website: https://www.mvk.usace.army.mil/Missions/Recreation/Grenada-Lake/ and email to will.clark@usace.army.mil before the deadline. They may also register in-person at the Grenada Lake Visitor Center, open Wednesday through Saturday 8 a.m. until noon.
Participants must abide by all U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and Mississippi Department of Wildlife Fisheries and Parks rules and regulations. Participants will be restricted to primitive weapons only.
