For more than two hours Wednesday afternoon, dozens of law enforcement officers with five agencies teamed up in Grenada to capture a fugitive from Tennessee.
According to officials with the U.S. Marshals Service, Tra-Shawn Robinson, was taken into custody after barricading himself inside a home in the 174th block of West Monroe Street near Grenada’s business district. He was wanted on charges of Aggravated Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, Aggravated Assault, Domestic Assault with Bodily Harm and Vandalism out of Shelby County, Tenn.
“On Oct. 24, 2025, felony warrants were issued for the arrest of Tra-Shawn Robinson out of Shelby County, Tenn.,” a U.S. Marshals spokesperson said. “The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force in locating and apprehending Robinson. The Two Rivers Violent Fugitive Task Force developed information that Robinson had fled the Memphis area and traveled to Grenada, Miss., and requested the assistance of the U.S. Marshals Gulf Coast Regional Fugitive Task Force of Northern Mississippi in capturing Robinson.”
Once apprehended, the 26-year-old Memphis, Tenn., man was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center – Grenada for initial treatment and later airlifted to Regional One Health in Memphis, Tenn., by AirCare for what officials believe were self-inflicted knife wounds. A machete-style knife was found in Robinson’s possession when he was apprehended.
Monroe and Van Dorn streets between Poplar and Fairground streets were all blocked off by a heavy presence of law enforcement during the standoff, which began at approximately 3:15 p.m. and concluded just after 5:30 p.m. when Robinson was cuffed inside the home’s bathroom. The roadways were reopened just before 7 p.m. when officers cleared the scene.
Deputies with the Grenada County Sheriff’s Office, agents with the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, Winona Police Department's K9 unit and conservation officers with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks assisted the Marshals Service in the arrest.
