The Tay Cheesy Brand, founded by viral internet sensation and proud Jackson State University alumna Taylor “Tay Cheesy” Akharume, is proud to announce a community celebration to kick off the 2025-26 school year in high energy and high spirit.
The festivities begin at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 31, with a Back-to-School Giveaway Event at Flowers Perry Park in Grenada. Families are invited to come out for an exciting evening of free school supplies, games, food and live entertainment designed to help students return to school prepared and inspired.
In a special moment during the event Mayor Charles Latham of Grenada will present Taylor “Tay Cheesy” Akharume with the Key to the City, honoring her philanthropic leadership and impactful work empowering youth and supporting underserved communities.
“Tay Cheesy is not just a local star, she’s a force for good,” Mayor Latham said. “Her ongoing commitment to giving back is exactly what makes her deserving of this honor.”
