Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. Sykes Wood, 91, of Grenada, who died on Sunday, July 21. A private family burial with military honors followed in Smith Cemetery in the Rosebloom Community of Tallahatchie County. Dr. Jim Nunnelee officiated.

$4,500 MAC grant awarded to ACER of Duck Hill

Action Communication and Education Reform, Inc., of Duck Hill was recently awarded a $4,500 grant from the Mississippi Arts Commission. This grant is a portion of the more than $1.7 million in grants MAC awarded in Fiscal Year 2025, and was used to support the Duck Hill Annual Grassroots Blues Festival.

Grenada fireman jailed for credit card fraud

City of Grenada fireman and Calhoun City resident Hikeen Frost was arrested by the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department on July 15 on felony credit card fraud.

Frost was released from jail on $5,000 bond on July 18.

The case remains under investigation.
