Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 4, 2021, in Grenada Memorial Garden for Mrs. Susie Ann Johnson Chandler, 77, of Grenada, who died on Friday, Jan. 1, at her residence. Bro. Ken Salley officiated.
Susie was born on April 11, 1943, in Vardaman to Rubye Neil and Ludi Alexander Johnson. She had worked for several years at Kellwood and then managed the children’s clothing department at the Grenada Walmart until her retirement. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Grenada. She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Her parents; five sisters, Mary Kate Melton, Nelda Huffman, Ruby Gatlin, Alla Mae Johnson and Nancy Johnson, and brother, George B. Johnson, preceded Susie in death.
Survivors include, her husband of 59 years, Rex Chandler; son, Mike Chandler (Pam) of Grenada; sister, Peggy Fugett Rollins of Greenville and two grandchildren, Mallory Chandler McCormack (Cody) of Huntsville, Ala., and Phillip Chandler.
The family wishes to extend sincere appreciation to Dr. Joseph S. Messina Jr. and the staff at Adoration Hospice for the excellent care and love provided to them during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
