This week, The Grenada Star spotlights Nicole Griffin with Grenada Physical Therapy.
Q: When and where were you born?
A: I was born in Memphis, Tenn., on June 26, 1987.
Q: Where did you attend school?
A: I attended Grenada High School and Holmes Community College.
Q: Where all have you lived?
A: My parents moved us to Grenada when I was seven. We lived in Florida and Horn Lake prior to that.
Q: Where do you work? Tell us about your job/company.
A: I work at Grenada Physical Therapy. I am the first face you will see when you come in the door. We provide top-notch therapy services to those in need. Our therapists have more than 30 years combined experience.
Q: What led you to your profession?
A: I worked in a medical office and the clinic closed. I knew that is where my heart was. I love interacting with the public and being of service to people in their most vulnerable times. Though I do a lot of paperwork and deskwork, a lot of my job is communicating with our patients. I get to meet and talk to new people daily.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?
A: The most rewarding part of my job is to see people literally be transformed. They come here because they are in need of services either due to pain, surgery, accidents or injuries. Seeing them overcome those hurdles and have a better quality of life is the absolute best part.
Q: What was your first job?
A: My first job was scooping ice cream for Baskin Robbins.
Q: Who is the person who has been most influential in your life?
A: That’s an easy one. My uncle, Steven Hobbs, has always been so supportive of me. We’ve always been more like friends than uncle and niece. He has taught me so many life lessons. I have watched him be successful in his personal and business life.
Q: If you could relive one day from your life, what day would you choose?
A: I would go back and tell myself that I, in fact, did not have life all figured out when I decided to move out of my parent’s home at such a young age.
Q: What is your spouse’s name? What does he do for a living?
A: My husband’s name is Will Griffin. He is a log truck driver for Harrison Logging Company.
Q: Do you have any children?
A: We have three children. Kaylen is 14, Remington is 13, and Ana Kathryn is seven.
Q: If you could have anything for your last meal on earth, what would it be?
A: I want fried chicken, mashed potatoes, mac-n-cheese, fresh corn and green beans.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
A: I am a pretty simple girl; I just want to go to Disney World.
Q: What hobbies do you like to do in your spare time?
A: My family and I love to get outdoors and ride our side-by-side, cook and eat crawfish and have bonfires.
Q: What do you enjoy about living and working in Grenada and Grenada County?
A: I love Grenada because its home. It is where my family and friends are. It is where my church and job is.
Q: If you could have lunch with anyone from your life or history, who would it be and why?
A: I would no doubt have lunch with my mom, Kathey Carpenter. I have so many things I want to tell her and apologize to her about. I want to thank her for being a praying Mama.
Q: Would you rather read a good book or watch a good movie and why?
A: I would rather watch a movie any day. I am not much of a reader.
Q: What moment in your life has had the biggest impact on you?
A: When my mother passed away. I realized very quickly that life is short and we are not promised tomorrow. Having salvation today is so very important.
Q: What would be the No. 1 thing on your Bucket List?
A: This may seem silly, but one day I want to be a farm wife. I want a farmhouse in the middle of a big pasture surrounded by cows, goats, chickens, etc.
Q: If you could describe your morals in three words, what would they be?
A: Compassionate. Respectful. Dependable.
Q: How would you like to be remembered?
A: I want to be remembered as someone who loved Jesus more than anything else in the world.
