Grenada Middle School's seventh- and eighth-grade football teams have been hard at work on the gridiron this school year.

The young Chargers' eighth-grade team tied with Clarksdale at home two weeks ago. The visiting team did not field a seventh-grade squad.

The Grenada High School cheerleading squad will be in full force this Friday night rooting on the 2-0 Chargers from the sidelines as they host the 2-0 Callaway High School Chargers out of Jackson.

Kickoff is 7 p.m. at Charger Field in Grenada.

Grenada HS volleyball; now 7-6 with victories

The Grenada Lady Chargers inched over the .500 mark last week with 3-0 wins over Water Valley and South Panola to improve to 7-6 overall.

Against Water Valley last Tuesday, GHS won by scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-14. Senior Olivia Lashley led the way with 11 aces and 6 kills. Junior Mary Grace Klinck added 5 aces and 6 kills.
