Crews with Kendall Vegetation Services worked throughout the Avenue of Pines subdivision Tuesday, trimming tree limbs to maintain safe clearance around power lines. Nearly a dozen workers spread out across the neighborhood, using several bucket trucks and a chipper truck to grind limbs into wood chips.
The work was part of the company’s seasonal effort to protect utility service and public safety. Entergy Mississippi provides electricity to the subdivision and maintaining open space around its lines is considered crucial under both federal and state regulations.

Tree pruning in the fall offers several advantages, according to arborists. Cooler weather and increased rainfall allow trees to recover more easily from cuts, while dormancy makes it simpler to spot unhealthy or overgrown limbs. By reducing stress on trees and improving visibility for crews, fall pruning helps keep neighborhoods safer and power service more reliable.
For residents in Grenada, Tuesday’s work meant the steady hum of chainsaws and trucks, a reminder of the unseen preparation needed to keep the lights on when storms roll in.
Work will be ongoing this week and over the next several weeks in other areas.
