Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 12, 2025, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Sarah Alice Jean McGee Heath, 91, of Grenada, who died on Friday, Oct. 10, in Grenada. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery in Carroll County. The Rev. J. Barry Worrell and the Rev. Eugene Heimbach officiated. The family received friends one hour prior to the service on Sunday, Oct.12, at McKibben and Guinn.
Mrs. Heath was born on May 4, 1934, in Tallahatchie County, the daughter of the late Amos McGee and the late Lizzie Melton McGee. She retired as an operator with South Central Bell and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada.
Alice enjoyed spending time outdoors and growing flowers in her yard. Above all, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to her family. She was blessed with the gift of being able to talk to anyone and could always make those she came in contact with feel welcome.
In addition to her parents, her husband, John Heath, and siblings, Henry Farmer, Bobby McGee, Dorothy Hall, Elzer Ray McGee, Tommy McGee, Curtis McGee, Jackie McGee, Freeland McGee, David McGee, Floyd McGee, Jimmy McGee and Joan Winters, preceded Mrs. Heath in death.
Survivors include, her daughter, Patsy Evans (Doug) of Grenada; granddaughters, Stephanie Evans Walker of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Vicki Shaw Evans of Grenada; grandson, Doug Evans II of Grenada; sister, Stella Tranum of Grenada; brother, Larry McGee of Charleston and three great grandsons, Taylor Cole Evans, Ashton Brody Evans and Brayden Carter Evans.
