The Kirk Academy Boys and Girls Cross Country teams closed out the 2025 season on Oct. 27, taking part in the Midsouth Association of Independent Schools State Cross County Championships held at Choctaw Trails in Clinton.
Both Coach Chuck Rose’s Raiders and Raiderettes squads brought home runner-up trophies in their respective divisions. The girls finished the day with 46 points, which was second to Columbia Academy, which had 22 points.
Individually, senior Charley Rose, who finished in third place with a time of 21:26, which was KA’s top runner followed by junior Jana Mims, who placed seventh with a time of 22:42. Both runners were named All-MAIS.
Other girls finishers included, senior Parker Avant finished in 12th place, sixth-grader Callie Jean Brown, who placed 13th and sophomore Addyson Kilgore, who came in 15th place.
Boys
Sophomore Cullom Crowe paced the Raiders with a time of 18:17 followed by freshman Jack Cravens, who finished in seventh-place with a time of 18:57. Junior Carter Mattox placed eighth with a time of 18:63. The threesome were all named to the All-MAIS Team.
Freshman Dawson Campbell finished in 15th place, while eighth-grader Russ Mims was 18th.
