A memorial service was held at 5 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30, 2026, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Robert Timothy “Tim” Laster, who died on Jan. 21, 2026, in Jackson after a brief battle with a vicious form of cancer. He was 59 years old. Dr. Joey Faulk officiated. Family and friends gathered one hour prior to the service on Friday, Jan. 30, at McKibben and Guinn.
A lifelong resident of Duck Hill, Tim was born on Sept. 29, 1966, in Winona, the son of Robert Gary Laster and the former Marion McCuiston. He quickly became the “apple of the eyes” of his grandparents, Mungo and Lilly McCuiston and Harris and Frances Laster, all of Duck Hill. The Lasters got a bonus three days later when granddaughter Angela Kay was born. Tim and Angie formed a special bond that was only broken by Tim’s passing.
Tim, a Baptist, attended school in Duck Hill and Grenada. Before becoming disabled, he worked for Gary Murphree Oil, Pennaco Hosiery and Safe Security. He later became a caregiver for his mother and grandmother, Lilly, until their deaths.
Along with his grandparents and mother, his uncles: Everette Blakely, Johnny Laster and Larry Laster, preceded Tim in death.
Survivors include, his daughter, Liz Blair (Owen) of Grenada; his father, Robert Gary (Susan) of Duck Hill; sisters: Krystle Laster of Duck Hill, Melissa Daves of Hernando and Amy Williams (Paul) of Gore Springs, and granddaughter, Grace Blair of Grenada. Other survivors include, his stepfather, Stanley Dixon of Duck Hill; his aunts: Rosemary Lancaster (John), Jonnie Timbs (Morris) and Melba Rodgers (Thomas), all of Duck Hill, Virginia Blakely of St. Louis and Nannette Laster of Grenada; along with nieces, nephews, a host of cousins and friends and his beloved fur babies.
Those honored to serve as Tim’s honorary pallbearers include, his first cousins, Angie Lancaster, Dawn Traugott, Madilyn Donovan, Taylor Rodgers, Austin Rodgers, Stacey Bartlett, Justin Timbs, Jason Timbs, Mark Lancaster, Mack Lancaster and Chris Blakely.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Providence Baptist Church, the Duck Hill Baptist Church Youth Fund or SHARE Grenada.
