Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Riva Louise Woods, 88, of Grenada, who died on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024, in Jackson. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until service time on Monday, Dec. 30, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn.
Riva was born on Feb. 17, 1936, in Itta Bena, the daughter of the late Aubrey and the late Myrtle White Ramsey. She was a faithful member of Enon Baptist Church and worked for many years at Pennaco Hosiery in Grenada. Deeply devoted to her family, Mrs. Woods loved to learn of all of her grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s accomplishments. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, her husbands, Arthur Holland and Russell Woods; daughters, Annette Smith and Diane Morgan; one sister, Carolyn Dallas, and brothers, Billy Ramsey and Cyrus Ramsey, preceded Riva in death.
Survivors include, her son, Roger Holland (Linda) of Grenada; one sister, Gail Maher (Charlie) of Baton Rouge, La.; five grandchildren, Chris Smith (Katherine), Michael Smith (Carrie), Nickie Morgan, Casey Killebrew (Amy) and Amanda Anthony and five great grandchildren, Jack, Jordan, Hannah, Bryce and Libbie Grace.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers included, Richard Carter, Casey Killebrew, Charlie Maher, Chris Smith, Jack Smith and Michael Smith. Bobby Morgan and Mike Smith served as honorary pallbearers.
