The Book of Mark gives us a verse that most Christians are familiar with. This is Mark 11:22 which says simply, “Have faith in God.” The following verse to it gives some great promise that we should be believing God to fulfil if we walk in this God-kind of faith since the latter part of Hebrews 10:23 says that He who promised is faithful. Also, Hebrews 6:18 tells us that “it is impossible for God to lie.”
Since we have established the principle of God’s faithfulness to watch over His Word to perform it, then why does mankind have such difficulty believing the Word and being obedient to do what it says? This unfaithfulness began in the garden of Eden when Adam and Eve allowed satan to plant a seed of doubt in their minds when he said “has God said.”This became a very crucial turning point in their lives. Up until this time they had walked with God and fellowshipped with Him in the cool of the day. They had never had a reason to doubt God’s Word before.
This same seed of doubt has now become such a great part of the majority of mankind today that even when they read what their Bible says, they still question as to whether or not God can actually do it, or at least, whether or not God will do it for them individually. It’s the same scenario with all of mankind, one is basically no different from another.
Exodus 3:8 says that God told Moses that He was going to bring the children of Israel to a good land that was flowing with milk and honey. But in Exodus 13:17 we see that God told Moses not to go the shortest route which was through the land of the Philistines.
The reason was that they would see war and it would cause the children of Israel to have that seed of doubt planted in their minds that God would not be able to bring them into His promised land. Doubt is fear and fear (false evidence appearing real) is a perverted faith that will nullify the promise of God.
Many of you reading this know that God has made certain promises to you. These could be about your marriage, children, job, finances and many other things. When you see the war of the fight that the enemy is bringing against you in these areas, it is causing doubts and fear and many are wanting to give up instead of continuing to fight the good fight of faith. Don’t turn back! Don’t let go of the promise! Inspite of all the hardships the children went through, God brought them through. God will bring you through also if you will “Have faith in God.”
May the Lord bless you and keep you. May the Lord make His face to shine upon you and be gracious to you. May the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace. Shalom!
