This week, The Grenada Star spotlights Candi Windham, paramedic with MedStat Ambulance Service.
Q: When and where were you born?
A: I was born on Dec. 5, 1981, in Tupelo.
Q: Where did you attend school?
A: I attended Grenada High School and I graduated in 2000. I also attended Holmes Community College.
Q: Where all have you lived?
A: I’ve lived in Tupelo, Jackson, and Grenada.
Q: Where do you work? Tell us about your job/company.
A: I work for MedStat. I offer pre-hospital and emergency medical care, along with transportation of patients.
Q: What led you to your profession?
A: I’m not sure about that one. I once worked in the emergency room and I thought that the ambulance personnel was an extremely tough job. I’ve always seen them as true professionals though.
Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?
A: I really enjoy my coworkers and the fact that we provide patient care to the citizens in Grenada County.
Q: What was your first job?
A: My first job was as a baby-sitter. From there, I worked at Walmart in Tupelo for a little while.
Q: Who is the person who has been most influential in your life?
A: That would have to be my mom – Betty Ware. She means so much to me when it comes to being a positive influence.
Q: If you could relive one day from your life, what day would you choose?
A: That’s a tough question. I would relive any day I spent with my granddaddy. He meant the world to me and his name was Horace Conn. He died on Jan. 24, 2015.
Q: What is your spouse’s name? What does he do for a living?
A: My husband is Adam Windham and he is a maintenance technician.
Q: Do you have any children?
A: We have one child and his name is Cadin. He’s 14.
Q: If you could have anything for your last meal on earth, what would it be?
A: My last meal would be a steak and king crab legs. The steak would have to be cooked medium well.
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
A: That’s easy, Bora Bora in the Pacific Ocean.
Q: What hobbies do you like to do in your spare time?
A: I like to plant flowers in my flower bed and I also like to garden.
Q: What do you enjoy about living and working in Grenada?
A: Grenada is where my family is, so that’s the most enjoyable thing; Everything about Grenada
Q: If you could have lunch with anyone from your life or history, who would it be and why?
A: That would have to be with granddaddy (Horace Conn). See, he was like a dad to me and he meant so much to me.
Q: Would you rather read a good book or watch a good movie and why?
A: I’d have to watch a good movie. A bag of popcorn and a good movie, you can’t beat that. I’d take that good movie every time.
Q: What moment in your life has had the biggest impact on you?
A: Giving birth to Cadin has to be the biggest impact in my life. At that moment, I realized I was a mom.
Q: What would be the No. 1 thing on your Bucket List?
A: I have two, can I have two? I want to go scuba diving and to go white water rafting.
Q: If you could describe your morals in three words, what would they be?
A: Honest, responsible and devoted.
Q: How would you like to be remembered?
A: I want to be remembered as the best loving mother and wife I can be. I also want to be remembered as being outstanding in patient care.
