I want to announce that I am running for the position of Circuit Judge for the Fifth Circuit Court District. This District includes Attala, Carroll, Choctaw, Montgomery, Grenada, Webster, and Winston Counties.
There will be a special election on November 8, 2022. This election is to fill the position that is open because of the untimely death of Judge George Mitchell. The Fifth Circuit Court District will highly miss Judge Mitchell, and we need an experienced person to fill this position. I believe that I am the person who has the experience and the personality to fill the position successfully.
My entire life has rotated around the Circuit Court. Right out of college, my career started as a Deputy Sheriff and then as a Police officer in Grenada. As a detective, I testified in many cases in Circuit Court. Because of that experience, I decided to attend Law School with the help of my wife Patsy and our children, Stephanie and Doug II. After graduating from Law School, I became an Assistant District Attorney in this District for one year, trying cases in Circuit Court. After that, I opened a private law practice in Grenada, where I tried civil and criminal cases in Circuit Court. During those six years, the citizens of Grenada County elected me to the position of Justice Court Judge, where I proudly served until I was elected District Attorney for this District Circuit Court. During that time, I, along with my Assistant District Attorneys, have handled tens if not hundreds of thousands of cases in Circuit Court. Because of my wide range of experience, I hope you will agree that I am the most experienced person for this position and elect me Circuit Judge so that I can continue to serve you.
I have worked with law enforcement and the citizens in this District for the past thirty years. I have done my best to help and protect everyone. I seek election to this position because of my love for the people in our District, but I cannot do it without your help. Please get out and vote on November 8th, and please vote for Doug Evans.
