Efforts to hold a special-called meeting of the Grenada City Council Monday night at City Hall were unsuccessful.
The Star was notified by Mayor Billy F. Collins at 5:21 p.m. last Friday informing the newspaper that a special-called meeting had been scheduled for 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26. The nature of the meeting was described as personnel.
However, Sunday evening, Mayor Collins contacted The Star giving notification that the meeting had been canceled.
“Four councilmembers have other commitments,” he said. “Lack of quorum.”
The City Council will meet in regular session at 6 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10.
