The Grenada County Board of Supervisors met last Tuesday morning.
Brian Chisholm, business development manager with Helms Polyfoam, visited and explained his company.
Helms Polyfoam is a concrete lifting and soil stabilization contractor based in central Mississippi, that uses polyurethane foam to stabilize soil and to lift and level concrete and repair infiltration/inflow in infrastructure. Unprecedented federal funding now makes it possible to address the infrastructure and structural repairs that are an ongoing challenge in the state. These repairs are often approved projects covered by the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds.
In other business, the Board:
• OK’d payment of claims docket.
• Approved the inventory adjustment for the transfer of the 2000 Caterpillar Backhoe Loader Property from District 2 to District 5.
• Authorized the Circuit Clerk’s office to have $300 operating/working cash.
• Authorized pay adjustments from House Bill 1408 effective Oct. 1 for Sheriff - $85,000 + $10,000 supplement and election commissioners $110 per diem (minimum five hours) and $165 per diem (day of election).
• Approved Personnel of Sheriff/Deputy Sabrina Stricklin appointed full time, Charles Martin removal from payroll (retirement) District 1, Sarah Livingston resignation from Circuit Clerk, Nakieya Herron added to payroll for Grenada Central Communications part time and approved HB 1427, Mississippi Law Enforcement and Fire Fighters Premium Pay Program of $1,000.
• Approved interfund transfer of $50,250.67 from General Fund to EDA MS Freight Grant Fund, interfund loan of $6,190 from general fund to Grenada Co. Garbage Fund and interfund loan repayment of $482,659.01 from EDA MS Freight Grant Fund to General Fund.
• OK’d garbage report publication.
• Approved computer software support agreement for Circuit Clerk in the amount of $1,040 a month.
• Approved the emergency additional appropriation of $15,000 for the Civil Defense.
• Tabled the Development Department Invoice of $10,000 from Delta Council.
• Approved the Service agreement for the North Central Planning and Development Department - Code Red.
• Approved travel for Supervisors to Fall Workshop Nov. 1-3 in Natchez, Circuit Clerk and Election Commissioners to ECAM 2023 Annual Certification Training Jan. 23-26 in Philadelphia, Deputy Sheriff Danny Lawrence to PEER Support Training Sept. 11-16 in Alexandra, La., and Deputy Sheriff Donald Wilson to Basic Law Enforcement Sniper Course Oct. 17-21 in Brookhaven.
• OK’d Pest Control Contract for District 1 with Bug-B-Gone for $30.
• Approved copier leases for chancery clerk and tax assessor offices.
• Authorized to transfer funds from general funds from the executed House Bill 1353 of $750,000 and House Bill 1353 of $500,000, approved the Federal Lands Access Program from Scenic Loop 333 and MDOT Audit.
