Following multiple requests that spanned nearly four weeks, The Grenada Star has finally obtained the official list of certified candidates for the 2024 Municipal Election slated for Monday, May 6.
A total of 13 candidates are listed as officially qualifying.
Longtime Mayor Billy F. Collins announced in late November 2023 that he would not seek re-election. Three candidates qualified to fill his seat. They include, John Goldwater, Gary Edwin Jenkins and Charles Latham.

Eric D. Harris, who represents Ward 5, is the only incumbent councilman facing opposition. John “Bubba” Caffey qualified to run against him.
Current Ward 6 Councilman Larry Vance also chose not to seek re-election, leaving his seat up for grabs. Lori Chavis – listed as Lori Charvis on the official certified candidates list provided – Tim Coleman and Ben Smith each qualified to run for the open seat.
Councilmen Warren B. Cox (Ward 1), Fredreick “Pete” Wilson (Ward 2) – spelled Frederick "Pete" Wilson on the list provided – Lewis Johnson (Ward 3), Michael Smith (Ward 4) and Ronald J. Merriman (Ward 7) are all five running unopposed.
