A pilot from Hernando was forced to make an emergency landing Friday afternoon just before 6 p.m. in Gore Springs.
The landing took place on Graysport Landing Road just south of the Graysport Crossing Bridge, which has been closed since May due to structural issues. The single-engine plane came to rest on its wheels - one flattened - approximately 100 yards from the parking lot of the Dry Dock Bar & Grill.
According to the pilot, Robert Riley, his engine locked up at 4,700 feet forcing him to find the safest place to land. The plane suffered minor damage to both wings.
Deputies with the Grenada County Sheriff's Office, volunteers with the Gore Springs Volunteer Fire Department and personnel with MedStat Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene.
No injuries were reported.
The roadway was cleared at 6:38 p.m.
