Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Ms. Phyllis Jane Simmons McNabb Durham, 73, of Grenada, who died on Thursday, Oct. 13, at her residence. Burial followed in Red Hill Cemetery near Duck Hill. The Rev. Reuben Cole officiated.
Phyllis was born on Sept. 15, 1949, the daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson Simmons and Agnes Jauwice Woods Simmons Johnson. She was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church and had spent most of her working life as a CNA.
In addition to her parents; her husbands, James Cameron McNabb and Sam Durham; two sisters, Nancy Carroll and Shelby Pigg, and one brother, Jerry Simmons, preceded Phyllis in death.
Survivors include, her daughter, Trisha Dunn of Duck Hill; sons, Scott McNabb of Grenada and Shawn McNabb of Hattiesburg; three sisters, Frankie Tartt of Oakland, Debbie Littlefield of Jackson and Susie Cole of Grenada; three brothers, Thomas Simmons of Grenada, Ben Simmons of Batesville and Eddie Johnson of Grenada; seven grandchildren, Felisha McNabb, Stephen McNabb, Krista McNabb, Cameron Dunn, Robbie Dunn, Jacob McNabb and Callie McNabb and one great grandchild, Gracelynn Jackson.
Bobby Avery, Cody Cole, Cameron Dunn, Robbie Dunn, Robert Dunn, Stephen McNabb and Chris Simmons honored Phyllis by serving as pallbearers and carried her to rest in the Red Hill Cemetery.
