Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Friendship Baptist Church in Grenada for Linda Lane Smith, 72, of Grenada, who went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, June 9. Burial will follow in Smith Cemetery in Rosebloom. The Rev. Tim McCaffrey, the Rev. Sherman Barnette and Dr. Kevin Jackson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 2 p.m. until service time on Sunday, June 13, at the church.
Linda was born on Aug. 23, 1948, in Grenada. She graduated from East Tallahatchie High School in 1966. She married Ronnie Lee Smith on Nov. 23, 1968. She had been an active member of Friendship Baptist Church since May 23, 1976, where she served in numerous capacities. She also worked in the community in several capacities. She worked for the Department of Human Services, the Chamber of Commerce and the City of Grenada. She had the gift of cooking and loved blessing others. She spent her life using her gift to minister to everyone she knew and loved.
Her son, Ronnie Lee Smith Jr.; one brother, Bubba Lane, and parents, Dee Bernice and Wilma Bloodworth Lane, preceded Linda in death.
Survivors include, her husband of 52 years, Ronnie Lee Smith; daughter, Jennie Smith Taylor (Craig) of Nesbit; daughter-in-law, Carrie Smith of Grenada; grandchildren, Hannah Lane Taylor, Hallie Marie Smith, Callie Brooke Smith and Joshua Clark Taylor; sisters, Berniece Pettit, Barbara Dogan, Frances Defenbaugh and Debbie Mitchell; one brother, Dewayne Lane, and sisters-in-law, Delores Lane, Bobbie Snell (Charles) and Betty Ruth Davis (Scottie).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Playground Project at Friendship Baptist Church, 475 Pearidge Rd., Grenada, MS 38901.
