Memorial service plans were private for Mr. William Marcus “Bill” Gray, 77, of Jackson, who died on Friday, March 3, 2023, at his residence.
Bill was born on June 20, 1945, in Puckett, the son of the late Walter and Louise Gray. Bill, known to many as “Scooter,” possessed a strong work ethic and enjoyed a successful 44-year career with Mississippi Valley Gas Company, retiring as customer service supervisor. He also possessed a genuine desire to serve his country and retired as a 1st Sergeant with the Mississippi Army National Guard. Bill was a member of Highland Baptist Church in Jackson and had served in several capacities including deacon. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and caring for his animals.
In addition to his parents, a brother, Buddy Gray, preceded Bill in death.
Survivors include, his special friend, Eloise Headrick of Jackson; daughter, Wendy Whitten (Pete) of Grenada and two grandchildren, Presley Whitten and Branden Stubblefield.
