Sadly, Mr. Warren Everett “Bud” Golding, 77, of Grenada, died on Friday, March 11, 2022. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, March 16, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada.
Bud was born on July 16, 1944, in Clarksdale, the son of Audrey Peacock and Everett Gwin Golding. He eventually moved to Florida where he graduated from high school. Upon graduation, he attended Tennessee Tech, majoring in business. He was soon employed by Winn-Dixie as store manager in Miami, Fla.
In 1972, Bud moved his family to Mississippi where he became store manager for Piggly Wiggly in Grenada. In 1980, he purchased Spain’s Supermarket where he took the grocery business by storm. He was recognized in the 1985 issue of “Progressive Grocer” as an Outstanding Independent Grocer. He was a formidable business competitor and recognized as a force to be reckoned with in the grocery industry. He was an entrepreneur and was involved in several other businesses as well. He retired from business in 1998 due to health issues. An avid outdoorsman, Bud always enjoyed hunting and fishing.
His parents; sister, Linda Fishel, and brother, Bradford Willis Jr., preceded Bud in death.
Survivors include, his wife of 55 years, Lou Golding; sons, Tim Golding (Angie) and Jason Golding (Ashley), all of Grenada; seven grandchildren, Everette Golding (Kayla), Jayda Stout (Michael), Alexa Hodges (C.J.), Gage Golding, Mallory England, Emily Tillman and Landon Tillman and four great grandchildren, Ethan Golding, Rowan Golding, Cooper Hodges and Holston Little.
