Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood for Ward Nelson Jackson Jr., 62, of Grenada, who died on Wednesday, June 26, in Grenada. Burial followed in Longview Cemetery in Carroll County. Dr. Brent Barker and the Rev. Dr. Don Simmons officiated. Visitation was held from noon until service time on Saturday, July 6, at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home.
Mr. Jackson was born on April 2, 1962, in Greenwood, the son of the late Ward Nelson Jackson Sr. and Rebecca Ashmore Jackson. He graduated from Greenwood High School and the University of Mississippi with a degree in civil engineering. He worked the past 36 years at MDOT. He was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Belinda Jackson, preceded Mr. Jackson in death.
Survivors include, his wife, Pamela Baker Jackson of Grenada; daughters, Tiffany (Dustin) Talbert of Starkville and Jessica Jackson of Grenada; son, Deane (Abby) Tilley of Vardaman; grandchildren, Rylee Tilley, Jessie Tilley, A.K. Tilley, Bentley Shriver and Vicky Gibbs and a grandchild on the way.
Pallbearers were Deane Tilley, Bentley Shriver, Lance Parent, Austin Parent, Collin Parent, Jerry Gilliland, Naron Yates and Jon Jernigan. Honorary pallbearers were MDOT employees and the Fred Fortenberry Sunday School class.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital or Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital.
