Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Virginia Burns Eaton, 70, of Grenada, who died on Thursday, Aug. 24, at her residence. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Dr. Kevin Jackson officiated. Family and friends gathered one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, Aug. 29, at McKibben and Guinn.
Virginia was born on May 2, 1953, in Coffeeville, the daughter of the late Wilson F. and the late Katie Mae Dorris Burns. She was a graduate of Coffeeville High School and earned a business degree with honors from California State University. While living in California, she also earned a law degree from Peninsula School of Law and was admitted to practice law in California, Arizona and Mississippi.
Virginia and her husband of 50 years, Ron, later moved to Tucson, Ariz., and spent 18 years there before retiring back to their home state of Mississippi. During retirement, Virginia was a devoted homemaker and enjoyed spoiling her cats. Virginia will long be remembered for her sharp intellect and quick wit.
In addition to her parents, one sister, Margaret Burns, and one brother, Joseph Burns, preceded Virginia in death.
Survivors include, her husband of 50 years, Ron Eaton; one sister, Grace Duffield of Tulsa, Okla.; three brothers, Ralph Burns of Pearl, Daniel Burns of Antlers, Okla., and Richard Burns of Johnson City, Tenn.; sister-in-law, Patricia Burns of Duck Hill and several nieces and nephews.
