Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, 2022, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. Victor Jerry Finkley, 83, of Grenada, who died on Thursday, March 24, at his residence. Burial will follow in Grenada Memorial Garden. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday, March 26, at McKibben and Guinn.
Vic was born on May 25, 1938, in Winston County. He was the founder and former owner of Vic’s Bait and Tackle serving regional bait shops providing them with live bait for decades. He also worked as a fishing guide and hosted dozens of fishermen from all over the country. He possessed a competitive spirit and enjoyed participating in Crappie Masters tournaments having won several state titles. He was recently inducted in the Mississippi Outdoors Hall of Fame.
Vic honorably served our country in the United States Air Force and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church. While Vic enjoyed his hobbies, he found his greatest joy in supporting his grandchildren in all of their activities.
His mother, Katie Mae Eaves Finkley; sister, Zenith Williamson, and one brother, Earl Finkley, preceded Vic in death.
Survivors include, his wife of 51 years, Barbara Finkley; sons, Zane Ray Finkley of Germantown, Tenn., and Jerry Finkley (Misty) of Grenada; sister, Vale Tabor (Bernard) of McCool; one brother, Doug Finkley (Catherine) of Birmingham, Ala., and two granddaughters, Kira Finkley and Emily Finkley.
Pallbearers will be Jackie Corman, David Cox, Sam Dowdle, Lee Hankins, Donnie Hersom, Alvin Perry, Bob Robinson and Richard Sanders.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Emmanuel Baptist Church.
