Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2023, at the Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel in Grenada for Thomas Wayne “Tommy” Hipp, 72, of Grenada, who died on Monday, Feb. 27, in Memphis, Tenn. Burial followed in Grenada Memorial Gardens. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service on Friday, March 3, at Mortimer National Funeral Home.
Tommy was born on Dec. 26, 1950, in Oxford, the son of the late Hubert Wayne Hipp and the late Johnnie Beatrice Gay Hipp. “Big Tom” was employed by Freeman Truck Lines and AAA-Cooper Transportation as a delivery driver and later as a dispatcher until his retirement. He was a faithful member of Hebron Baptist Church in Grenada.
In addition to his parents, his wife of 45 years and eight months, Patricia Ann Doles Hipp, and his brothers, Walter Leslie “Buster” Hipp and John William Hipp, preceded Tommy in death.
Survivors include, his sons, Randy Hipp of Grenada and Michael Hipp (Rebecca); granddaughters, Morgan Hipp and Mia Hipp, grandson, Cooper Hipp, and granddog, Sniffles Hipp, all of Arlington, Tenn.; one sister, Martha Johnson of Grenada and one sister-in-law, Libby Austin of Tillatoba.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Hebron Baptist Church, 315 Hebron Church Rd., Grenada, MS 38901.
