A Service of Remembrance was held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, 2024, in the Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel in Grenada for Sally Estelle McIlwain Harbin, 89, of Grenada, who died on Saturday, Oct. 19, at her residence. Inurnment followed in Elliott Baptist Church Cemetery. Visitation was held from 10 a.m. until service time on Tuesday, Oct. 22, at Mortimer National.
Sally was born on Sept. 15, 1935, in Carroll County, the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson McIlwain and the late Myrtle Missouri Mann McIlwain. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. She was a member of Hillside Baptist Church. She loved people and enjoyed writing poems, writing in her journal and reading the Bible.
In addition to her parents, one son, Brent Harbin.; two sisters, Lillie Bell Green and Thelma Garner, and one brother, Andrew “Mac” McIlwain Jr., preceded Sally in death.
Survivors include, two daughters, Gale Lovell (Dennis) and Kay Worsham (Ronnie), all of Grenada; one son, Randy Harbin of Grenada; one daughter-in-law, Martha Harbin; two sisters, Bea Crocker of Boyle and Judy Steed of Alamo, Tenn.; one brother, Jackie McIlwain of Carrollton; four grandchildren, Tiffany McDaniel (Brent), Amber Duke (Phil), Jody Welch (David) and Adam Harbin; two great grandsons, Taylor Fant and Colt Harbin; a host of nieces and nephews, and two special friends, Barbara and Deanna.
