Funeral services for immediate family were held on Sunday, July 16, 2023, at Womble Funeral Home Chapel in Charleston for Riley Joe Mitchell, 88, who died on Thursday, July 13, at his residence. Graveside services followed in New Hope Cemetery. Bro. Howard Beam officiated. Visitation was held from 1 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
Riley was born on July 25, 1934, in Tillatoba, the son of the late Albert Lee Mitchell and the late Inez Tribble Mitchell. He was a veteran of the Korean War.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Dorothy Mitchell, preceded Riley in death.
Survivors include, his daughters, Tina Welch (Jimmy) of Sarah and Joyce Mitchell Crotts (Horace) of Ponchatoula, La.; sons, James A. Mitchell, John Mitchell and David Mitchell, all of Cascilla; sister, Shirley Heath (Allen) of Jackson; brother, James L. Mitchell (Faye) of Cascilla; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
