Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 1, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Rebecca Lynn “Becky” Suggs Dodson, 56, of Canton, who died peacefully on Tuesday, May 28, due to complications from diabetes. Entombment followed in the Garden of Memories Mausoleum in Oxford. The Rev. Kevin Tribble officiated. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until service time on Saturday, June 1, at McKibben and Guinn.
Becky was born on Jan. 12, 1968, in Grenada, the daughter of the late Samuel Bartlett and the late Cullie Ann Woods Suggs. She served as vice president of Maitland Construction Company and faithfully worked alongside her husband in this business for many years. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed sharing her delicious food with those she loved. She also enjoyed crafting, reading and riding their Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Becky treasured any time she was able to spend with her family and friends, and she will be missed for many years to come.
In addition to her parents, her brother, Wirt Nelson Suggs, preceded Becky in death.
Survivors include, her husband, Bob Dodson; daughters, Emily Parnell (Wade Vail) of Winona and Lylee Dodson of Starkville; sons, Matthew Branch (Hannah) of Winona and Rob Dodson (Lijia) of Piedmont, Calif.; three sisters, Melanie Truby of Grenada, Phyllis Pace (Jimmy) of Saltillo and Julie Suggs of Clinton; seven grandchildren, Pierson Lowrey, Luci Lowrey, Adair Lowrey, Blakely Parnell, Sutton Parnell, Evelyn Branch and Kai Dodson as well as a host of nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Dawson Dabbs, Cody Darby, Derrick Darby, Terry Darby, Brady McCaulla and Lester Thomas honored Becky by serving as pallbearers and carried her to rest.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn.
