Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. Raymond Gale Moorman, 74, of Grenada, who died on Tuesday, July 2, at the Martha Jo Leslie State Veterans Home in Kosciusko. Burial with military honors followed in Smith Cemetery in Cascilla. The Rev. Fletcher Moorman officiated.
Raymond was born on May 13, 1950, in Quitman County, the son of the late Elmer Fletcher Moorman Sr. and the late Allie Mae (Huddleston) Moorman. He was a United States Army veteran, served in the Vietnam War and was awarded several service medals including a Purple Heart. He spent most of his life in Grenada County and held various jobs during his career. Raymond was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed art, music and photography.
In addition to his parents, four sisters; Myrtle Wilcox, Ocean Hand, Mildred Martin and Bonnie Pyburn, and six brothers, Clifton Moorman, J.T. Moorman, Arnold Moorman Sr., Dewey Moorman, John Moorman and Joe Moorman, preceded Raymond in death.
Survivors include, two sisters, Jean Williamson and Mary Moorman; four brothers, W.T. Moorman, Mac Moorman, Paul Moorman and Stewart Moorman, all of Grenada, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were his nephews, Ricky Williamson, Stanley Williamson, Eddie Moorman, Jason Moorman, Mark Moorman and Ronnie Hand.
