A Celebration of Life Service with family and friends was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 28, 2022, in Sparta Cemetery in Holcomb where a graveside service took place for Mrs. Peggie Sue Hendon Andrews, 77, of Grenada, who was called home to be with her Lord on Thursday, Aug. 25, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. The Rev. Gladwin Carpenter and the Rev. David Haggerty officiated.
Peggie was born on Oct. 2, 1944, in Moorhead, the daughter of the late Walter Fredrick “Fred” Hendon and Lillie Marie Clanton Hendon. She was affectionately known as “Peppie” and was a long-time member (40 years) of Calvary Baptist Church in Grenada where she was very active until the symptoms of Alzheimer’s began to take over her body.
In addition to her parents; her husband of 40 years, Robert Lee Andrews Sr., and one sister, Carolyn Ann Costilow, preceded Peggie in death.
Survivors include, her son, Bobby Andrews (Patti) of Holcomb; daughter, Susan Renee Andrews of Gore Springs; brother, Clyde Hendon (Roberta) of Kentucky; one sister, Elaine Dungan of Carrollton; three grandchildren, Ashley Andrews Kellum (Bobby) and Matt Andrews (Emily), all of Holcomb, and Ryan Andrews (Mary) of South Carolina and three great grandchildren, Joseph Clark Kellum, Cooper James Andrews and Zoey Frances Andrews.
Pallbearers were Ryan Andrews, Matt Andrews, Bobby Kellum, Gary Costilow, Josh Costilow and Chris Dungan. Honorary pallbearer was Joseph Clark Kellum.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to AccentCare Hospice for their kindness, care and support during this time.
