Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2023, at Wilson and Knight Funeral Home in Greenwood for Marie Barranco Aldridge, 75, of Greenwood, who died on Monday, Feb. 6, in Memphis, Tenn. Burial will follow in Odd Fellows Cemetery. Father Andrew Nguyen will officiate. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Thursday, Feb. 16, at the funeral home.
Marie was born on June 30, 1947. She was a graduate of Grenada High School and received her bachelor’s degree from Delta State University. She was a teacher for a number of years at Pillow Academy before choosing to serve her family as a stay-at-home mom. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church where she served as secretary for more than 30 years. She was also a member of the Lebonte Women’s Club in Greenwood where she served in various roles.
Her husband, John Baker Aldridge, and her parents, Charles and Tina Barranco, preceded Marie in death.
Survivors include, her sons, Brad Aldridge (Ellie) of Hernando and Lee Aldridge (McCall) of Nesbit; grandchildren, Libby Aldridge, Hollyn Aldridge and Evie Aldridge; brothers, Michael Barranco of Greenwood, Sam Barranco (Kathy) of Meridian and Vince Barranco (Marjorie) of Oxford; sister, JoAnn Barranco of Grenada and a number of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Charles Barranco, Cameron Barranco, Don White, Jody Acosta, Brad McDonald and David Nolan.
