Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Ms. Katherine Regina “Gina” Cummings Thornburg, 63, of Holcomb, who died on Thursday, Sept. 12, in Germantown, Tenn. Burial followed in Bethel Cemetery in the Oxberry Community. The Rev. Lynn Welch officiated.
Gina was born on Jan. 14, 1961, in Marks, the daughter of Odis and Rachel Virginia Kendall Cummings. A devoted homemaker, Gina enjoyed doing everything that made her house a home. She was a skilled seamstress and took great pride in all of the work she did. Gina also enjoyed tending to her flowers, gardening and caring for her chickens.
Her parents preceded Gina in death.
Survivors include, her husband, William “Pete” Jackson; three sisters, Brenda Small of Tunica, Carolyn Gates (Danny) of Thaxton and Lynn Golden of Oakland; two brothers, Lamar Cummings (Dawn) of Courtland and Burl Jackson of Holcomb and a host of nieces and nephews.
Scott Alexander, Jacob Cummings, Lamar Cummings, Trey Gabbard, Daniel Jackson and Bill Lindley honored Gina by serving as pallbearers and carried her to rest in Bethel Cemetery.
