Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, 2024, at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Grenada for Mrs. Judith Ann “Judy” Wilson Carroll, 83, of Grenada, who died on Monday, Oct. 21, at her residence. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park. Dr. Brent Barker officiated. The family received friends from 1 p.m. until service time on Sunday, Oct. 27, at Emmanuel Baptist Church.
Judy was born on Nov. 28, 1940, in Alva, the daughter of the late Talmadge Raymond “Red” and the late Eselle James Wood Wilson. She was a standout basketball player and graduate of Calhoun City High School. She later earned a degree from Holmes Junior College.
Judy enjoyed a career spanning more than 35 years with the Mississippi Unemployment Security Commission. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Grenada and also attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. Judy loved shopping and was always the first to be ready to go on a shopping trip. Judy was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. She never missed a football or basketball game her grandchildren played in and she will be missed by all those who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Ray Carroll, preceded Judy in death.
Survivors include, her daughter, Amy Carroll Denley (Greg) of Grenada; son, Ramie Carroll (Tina) of Grenada; three brothers, Paul Wilson Sr. (Jenny) of Canton, Jerry Wilson (Mary Earl) of Frisco, Texas and Toby Wilson (Terri) of Alva; two grandchildren, Gunner Hudspeth and Carley Hudspeth; several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Andy Bell, Gene Bell, Brooks Wilson, Clay Wilson, Drew Wilson, Kyle Wilson, Mark Wilson and Paul Wilson Jr. honored Judy by serving as pallbearers and carried her to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
