Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 27, 2022, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. Joshua Maurice McNeer, 39, of Duck Hill, who died on Tuesday, Aug. 23, in Grenada. Burial followed in the McNeer family plot in Evergreen Cemetery in North Carrollton. Dr. Jim Phillips officiated. The family received friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 26, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, Aug. 27, all at McKibben and Guinn.
Josh was born on Oct. 6, 1982, in Memphis, Tenn., the son of the Rev. Jerry and Kitty Powell McNeer. He was a 2001 graduate of Kirk Academy and enjoyed playing football and baseball at Holmes Community College. He spent 18 years as a heavy equipment operator at Camp McCain where he made many friends from far and wide. An avid outdoorsman, Josh enjoyed hunting and fishing at every opportunity. Above all, Josh loved Jesus and held in his soul the cure to death, a relationship with his Lord.
His grandparents, Bob and Kitty Powell and Billy Wade and Ruth McNeer, preceded Josh in death.
Survivors include, his parents, the Rev. Jerry and Kitty McNeer of Duck Hill; brother, Caleb McNeer (Ari Singh) of Buford, Ga., and his faithful companion, his dog, Buddy.
Pallbearers were Mike Box, Eric Fowler, Todd Fowler, Jason Timbs, Justin Timbs and Vance Welch.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
