Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, at First United Methodist Church in Grenada for Mr. James Provine “Jib” Crawford, 89, of Grenada, who died on Friday, Oct. 7, at his residence. Burial with military honors followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The Rev. Daniel Herring officiated. The family received friends from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Saturday evening, Oct. 8, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada and one hour prior to the service on Sunday, Oct. 9, at the church.
Jib was born on Feb. 12, 1933, in Grenada. He honorably served our country in the Armed Forces for more than 42 years. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and ultimately retired from the Mississippi Army National Guard as a captain. Jib was also active in several non-commissioned officers organizations as well as the Grenada Civitan Club. He was an active and devoted member of First United Methodist Church in Grenada.
His parents, Fisher Crawford Sr. and Annie Elizabeth Avant Carroll; wife, Ruth Ann Crawford; three sisters, Mary Oswalt, Ruby Ferguson and Scarlett Willoughby and four brothers, A.F. Crawford, Lawrence Crawford, Billy Crawford and Fisher Crawford Jr., preceded Jib in death.
Survivors include, his daughter, Leslie Crawford Howell (Dalton) of Potts Camp; sons, David Crawford (Debbie) of Fulshear, Texas, and Scott Crawford (Michelle) of Grenada; seven grandchildren, Kris Crawford (Laura Lynn), Lindsay Stafford (Zack), Jake Howell, Evan Howell, Nick Lee, Phillip Crawford and David Crawford and three great grandchildren, Beckham Crawford, Lleyton Crawford and Carson Stafford.
Jib’s grandsons, David Crawford, Kris Crawford, Phillip Crawford, Evan Howell, Jake Howell, Nick Lee and Zack Stafford honored him by serving as pallbearers and carrying him to rest in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to First United Methodist Church in Grenada.
