Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 9, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Gloria Ann Waters Carpenter, 83, of Grenada, who died on Thursday, Sept. 5, at her residence. Burial followed in Woodlawn Memorial Park. The family received friends from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 8, and one hour prior to the service on Monday, Sept. 9, at the funeral home.
Gloria was born on Jan. 5, 1941, in Montgomery County, the daughter of the late Thomas Franklin and the late Alene Rodgers Waters. A devoted homemaker, Gloria was also a model pastor’s wife and diligently worked alongside her husband in his ministry. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church near Houston where they served for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed working in her yard and feeding the birds that would visit.
In addition to her parents, two sisters, Evelyn Pate and Shirley Fowler, and brother, Roger Waters, preceded Gloria in death.
Survivors include, her husband, Bro. Gladwin Carpenter; daughter, Tabitha Carpenter Bole of Gore Springs; sons, Keith Carpenter of Decatur, Ga., and Kevin Carpenter of Gore Springs; one sister, Tommie McReynolds of Kerrville, Texas; six grandchildren, Chad Carpenter, Cheyenne Smiley, Blake Carpenter, Tristen Bole, Katlyn Carpenter and Cullen Bole and one great granddaughter, Amelia Carpenter.
