Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 6, 2023, in the Mortimer National Funeral Home Chapel in Grenada for Glenda L. Coleman, 73, of Holcomb, who died on Thursday, Aug. 3, in Jackson. Burial followed in Bethel Cemetery in Oxberry. Visitation was held one hour prior to the service at Mortimer National Funeral Home.
Glenda was born on Oct. 30, 1949, in Grenada County, the daughter of the late Claude Lindley and the late Jewel Scallions Lindley. She was employed by Grenada County as a housekeeper until her retirement. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Oxberry.
In addition to her parents, one daughter, Janice Roberson; her son, Rodney Coleman; one grandson, Joseph Blake Whitten; four sisters, Janice Lewis, Peggy Birdsong, Sally Lowry and Mary Gladys Jackson, and three brothers, D.L. Lindley, John Lindley and Gerald Lindley, preceded Glenda in death.
Survivors include, her husband, L.C. Coleman Jr.; one daughter, Cindy Dungan; two sisters, Gloria Simmons and Alice Rideout; one brother, Bill Lindley, and four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.
