Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 7, 2024, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for Mr. Francis Carl Cohea, 82, of Gore Springs, who died on Sunday, Nov. 3, at his residence. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The Rev. Franklin Dunn officiated. Family and friends gathered one hour prior to the service on Thursday, Nov. 7, at the church.
Carl was born on Jan. 7, 1942, in Webster County, the son of the late Monroe Guy and the late Doris McWhorter Cohea. While living in Memphis, Tenn., Carl worked at Exxon as a mechanic. Upon moving back to Gore Springs, he worked at Hankins Lumber Company. He was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. An avid outdoorsman, Carl enjoyed working in his yard and growing a vegetable garden each year.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Freddie Cohea, preceded Carl in death.
Survivors include, his daughters, Kecia Cohea and Karla Cohea, both of Gore Springs, and Kara Beth Killebrew of Nesbit; four grandchildren, Brittany Wells, Nicolas Wells, Kayla Wells and Kimber Killebrew, and one great grandchild, Aria Dahiya.
