Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 6, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mrs. Debra Kay Coleman Williams, 71, of Grenada, who died on Thursday, July 4, at her residence. Burial followed in Lehrton Cemetery in Ruleville. Bro. Mark Lindley officiated. The family received friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday, July 6, at McKibben and Guinn.
Debra was born on Sept. 22, 1952, in Shaw, the daughter of the late Trenton Leon and the late Montez Pistol Coleman. She was the youngest of six siblings, as she would always claim that she was the baby and also the favorite of the family. Debra attended Ruleville High School and was a graduate of the Nursing Program at Mississippi Delta Community College where she was a cheerleader. She married the love of her life, Bubba, at the Church of Christ in Ruleville and they spent 52 wondrous years together. During those years, they were blessed with one son, Brad, and then went on to have their first and only grandson, Gage.
Debra’s three boys were her heart. Family was important to Debra; she valued her time spent with her family. She loved each family member dearly, especially her nieces and nephews. Every occasion was filled with so much laughter and love. Debra was loving, kind and had a spirit of joy. Her joy radiated to everyone she was around and you always knew you were loved when you were with her. She also had an eye keen for anything and everything fashionable. When you saw her, she was always dressed up and had the most beautiful make up for the occasion. She took pride in the way she presented herself.
Debra was a member of the Southside Church of Christ in Grenada. She spent several years in nursing, primarily working in home health. She found her true calling as a devoted homemaker, genuinely committed to making her house a home. She loved animals and never met a dog she didn’t like. Debra will long be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, one sister, Lettie Britt, and her brother, Trent Coleman, preceded Debra in death.
Survivors include, her husband of 52 years, James “Bubba” Williams; son, Brad Williams of Grenada; grandson, Gage Williams; four sisters, Edna Richardson of Grenada, Laura Webb of Oxford, Myrt Boyer of Holcomb and Sylvia Lee of Southaven and a host of nieces and nephews.
Malcom Grant, Tim McDaniel, Gage Williams, Terry Williams, Tyler Lee, James Terry Lee, Richie Boren and Brock Lindley honored Debra by serving as pallbearers and carried her to her rest in the Lehrton Cemetery. Charles Harmon, Charles Boyer, Steve Richardson and Thomas (Bubba) Webb served as honorary pallbearers.
