A service of worship to the glory of God was held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2024, at Westminster Presbyterian Church in Greenwood in loving remembrance of Cynthia “Cyndi” Raney Savage, 62, of Greenwood, who died peacefully on the evening of Sunday, Nov. 3, after a years-long battle with cancer. Visitation was held from 12:30 p.m. until service time on Sunday, Nov. 10, at the church.
Cyndi was born on May 14, 1962, in Ruleville, the daughter of the late Robert Raney and Katherine Morgan Raney. She grew up in Grenada and graduated from Belhaven College in 1983. While at Belhaven, Cyndi sang in the concert choir and had a double major in home economics and business with a minor in art.
Cyndi married the love of her life, Kent Savage, in September of 1989. She began her career in apparel retail merchandising, but would move quickly to furniture sales and design. Cyndi was the manager of Malouf Furniture in Greenwood for more than 10 years. Realizing her talent for design, Cyndi opened her own interior design company, which she beautifully ran until her passing. She was also a member of the Greenwood Garden Club.
Cyndi was known for her deep and abiding love for Jesus and her passion for sharing the gospel. Her compassion and genuine interest in others were felt by so many. She was an active and devoted member of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1993. Cyndi served in the church’s music ministry by being a member of the choir and faithfully played the piano every Sunday for the past 20 years. Cyndi also led many women’s Bible studies, served on the leadership for the Women in the Church and attended several ministry conferences. Cyndi had many friends and was a positive bright light of encouragement and enthusiasm even through her cancer treatments.
In addition to her father, her sister-in-law, Kimberly Savage Taylor, preceded Cyndi in death.
Survivors include, her husband of 35 years, Kent Savage; her mother, Katherine Raney of Grenada; sister, Cheryl Raney of Grenada; brothers, Keith Raney and his wife, Kathy, of Grenada, and Cecil Raney and his wife, Jackie, of Nashville, Tenn.; brothers-in-law, Dean Savage and Chris Savage and his wife, Beth; nieces and nephew and her best friend of 42 years, Pam Jones of Jackson.
As her family reflects on and celebrates Cyndi’s life, we are confident that 2 Timothy 4:7 holds true for her: She has fought the good fight, she has finished the race, she has kept the faith.
Honorary pallbearers were Cord Montgomery, Walt Montgomery, Baylor Pillow, John Sabin, Reid Sabin and Webb Sabin.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be directed to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 804 East Park Ave., Greenwood, MS 38930.
