Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at McKibben and Guinn Funeral Service in Grenada for Mr. Charles Harris Parker, 74, of Holcomb, who died on Saturday, July 20, at his residence with his family by his side. Harris was laid to rest in Holcomb Cemetery. The Rev. Kevin Tribble officiated. The family received friends one hour prior to the service on Tuesday, July 23, at McKibben and Guinn.
Harris was born on July 13, 1950, in Winona, the son of the late Charles Hemphill and the late Pauline Grantham Parker. He honorably served our country in the United States Marine Corps and enjoyed a career spanning more than 50 years as a truck driver. He will long be remembered as a devoted family man willing to do anything for anyone who needed a helping hand. Harris enjoyed hunting and fishing in his spare time.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Samuel David Parker, preceded Harris in death.
Survivors include, his wife, Jean Hill Parker; son, Chuck Parker (Miranda) of Holcomb; stepdaughter, Amy Vance (Kenneth) of Olive Branch; niece that he loved like a daughter, Kristy Hardin-Peῆa of Holcomb; sister, Hommie Holly of Madison; seven grandchildren, Kalee, Allie, Summer, Katelyn, Presley, Journee and Evan; nine great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
Pallbearers were Tony Aven, Brent DeLoach, Jamie Freeman, Bryan Heafner, Tim Logan, Rick Palmer, Isaiah Rogers and Buddy Sims.
